Martha's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Part 1 of the final and main event for the Fall WNH. The most spectacular lineup of wines I’ve ever seen, and an overall wonderful ending to an amazing trip with fantastic people.

One of my contributions. I think I surprised myself at claiming it needed 30-45mins of air as well as needing to be brought down from room temp to closer to cellar temp. This is a gorgeous wine, and a wonderful creation from the Heitz team. Underripe black fruit and plum on the nose, giving way to an herbal/earthy blackberry pie note. Seamless and well balanced on the palate showing red and black fruit, dark cocoa dusted bay leaf and older fig. A touch of their signature eucalyptus on the finish. Many years to go.

An amazing find in the village at Mammoth Lakes, nothing short of spectacular.

Classic old school napa, American oak a bit forward. Dusty ripe black fruit, pickle, sweet oak.

Beautiful nose. Took a bit to open up. Always a nice bottle.

Perfect with Torcchietti Bolognese, our wonderful server Christian and the spirit of the holidays!

Very enjoyable Cali Cab

I wasn’t surprised by the fruit being somewhat diminished at 20 years. But I was sure you the tannins still being fairly fierce and furry to a degree that somewhat overwhelmed other notes I was hoping would be more prominent now.

Gorgeous and delicious, such grace and power with tons left in the tank for many years to come. Very Cali Cab like texture in the palate for me. 93-94
