Heitz Cellar
Ink Grade Napa Valley Port Blend
I’ll echo other thoughts here and state that this got quite a bit better over the lifetime it was open. For me, it’s been open two weeks and it is doing very well at the moment. Aromtically, there is luxardo cherries spread over roasted graham cracker with blackberry compote. Obvious notes of sherry too. The palate gives some nutty and savory notes...dark cocoa dusted raisins and cherry liqueur finish. While not top shelf, for around $20, you’re hard pressed to find a better “port” in Cali.

May 25th, 2019Always liked CA ports. Very dark in color, jammy fruit and oak on the nose. Palate is port-like (go figure?) with nice stewed red fruits, just a touch of heat from the alcohol, but not too much. This will be a multi-day bottle, notes will be added to as we progress to the end.
