Hartwell Vineyards
Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Stags Leap District, Napa Valley, California, USA

Beautiful!! Big, lush, mouth -filling, just like a Napa Cabernet should be. Hartwell does no wrong.

1hr decant. Purple in color. Fairly restrained and a bit diluted versus other bottles. Dark fruit, mainly plums and prunes with some oak. Maybe an off bottle but not typical of this producer.

1hr+ decant. Red, maroon, prune color. Dark stewed fruit with some floral elements on the nose. Nose and flavor weren’t connected. Wine was pretty one dimensional with no real standout characteristics. Medium minus depth and finish. Not bad, had higher expectations.

Oct 27th, 2024Had the 2014- was great. Recommend decanting as there was a good amount of sediment. Opened up nicely after about an hour.. glad I got a case!

Dark and brooding from initial pop-n-pour through 5 hours of air. A dense layer of black fruits and earthy notes dominate the palate, and leave me wishing for a little lift. This is a significant step down from Hartwell's Reserve cab.
