Tasted at the Taste of Yountville.
Deep garnet red. Layered and rounded nose with a punch of cinnamon, black cherries and a touch of tomato in the backend. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Very interesting right after having the Oak Knoll bottling. The SLD is more layered with minerality, red fruits and something a little vegetal. Once it started to open up it put forth some blackberries too. Long finish. Would be interesting to see in five or so years, potential is definitely there. Drink from 2020 till 2032. (90+)
Made up of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon from Stags Leap and 5% Petit Verdot from Rutherford. Aged for 22 months in 70% new French oak barrels.
