Low price point? Yes, but when compared to similarly priced wines from the South of France, this one falls short. This vintage was oak-chipped, sweetened, and hard-edged. My friend’s grocery store environment could have been part of the issue, but this is a recent vintage. Bottom line: spend $3-5 more on a Cote du Rhône.

This wine has won a ton of awards. I can see why. The GSM soars out of the glass. Plums, blueberries, macerated black fruit tarte. Tar, cigar box, a hint of wet tobacco and anise. This is a fun wine!

GSM; get some more. Cherry, fresh leather, and pleasant like an interaction with a Mormon stranger. Hot on the tongue but has a love language of quality time in the fridge (20mins). Punches above its weight. Would drink again, would buy again.
