Low price point? Yes, but when compared to similarly priced wines from the South of France, this one falls short. This vintage was oak-chipped, sweetened, and hard-edged. My friend’s grocery store environment could have been part of the issue, but this is a recent vintage. Bottom line: spend $3-5 more on a Cote du Rhône.

GSM; get some more. Cherry, fresh leather, and pleasant like an interaction with a Mormon stranger. Hot on the tongue but has a love language of quality time in the fridge (20mins). Punches above its weight. Would drink again, would buy again.

An old standby. Lovely rosy red color with a maroon edge. Smells a bit candied with a hint of spice box. Think cherry jam and cinnamon sugar. Flavors are smokey, berry-licious and crisp on the finish. For the CA AVA at a good price point this is a great pick up. Fun winery off the beaten path near Salinas to visit as well.
