Deep and dark ruby garnet. Abundant nose of black cherry and pipe tobacco. Echoed on the palate with a stony mid-palate and a cigar box finish. Velvety tannins coat the mouth from entry to the medium long finish. Toro is probably best known (to those who know it) through really high-end wines that cost more and are less well-known than their fellow Tempranillo-based brothers from Rioja and Ribera del Duero. Darker and fuller than either, Toro at more moderate price points (like this one) let the wineaux experience Spain (and Tempranillo) at a higher level without breaking the proverbial bank. A great alternative to Cabernet Sauvignon (New or Old World) that’s ready for steaks, roasts, root vegetables, hearty casseroles, or any other “deep red” meal. Drink now through 2025.

Not bad for a young Toro but personally I found the 2011 too alcoholic

Ruby color, the wine sitting on French oak for about 9 months, had aromas of red and black berries and earthy spices. On the palate blackberry and cherry flavors with savory herbs and pepper spice. Firm tannins with vanilla notes on the lingering soft finish ending with earthy notes. Tasting Sample.

2011. Ok.. Can I rant for a second? When I looked this wine up on delectable just now and saw an 8.6 rating from the community, my jaw almost hit the floor. What the heck is wrong with people? I'm sorry. I know taste is subjective, but this is a $16 bottle that drinks AT LEAST like a $30 bottle. This is a steal! Nose is lovely, dark, and inviting. Black raspberry, dark chocolate, floral tones and spice box. Gripping and dense on the palate with more black raspberry, concentrated plum compote, and a hint of leather. 10 months in French oak, 95 yr old vines, bush-trained. This is easily a case buy.

Vivid Ruby color with aromas of red and black fruit and earthy spices. On the palate the fruit exploded like crushed blackberries and sweet red cherry flavors with savory herbs and peppery spice. Soft tannins make the finish smooth and elegant with good length. Great value.

Delicious. Really. A wine the tastes the same out of Italy or France would be worth three times as much money. Wonderful fullness and nice alcohol ratio. Satisfying in every respect.

Spanish wine from the Toro region made by a Portuguese winemaker. Bush vines of Tinta de Toro, meaning these vines have no sticks or wire that train their shoot growth, these grow wild. A nice wine with decent substance, not a top Toro but a nice medium level range showing tart black and blue fruit, some roast beef, tobacco and iron notes. Firm and dry tannins should settle in bit. I also would not wait more than another year or 2 for the tannins to integrate better into the wine.

Tobacco and plum on the nose. Strong tannin, but not much flavor. I really like temperanillo but this is quite bland. Maybe it would be better with food, but as a sipping wine it does not have much to recommend it. The 2018 vintage is much better.
