Groth Vineyards & Winery
Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve emerges from two blocks on the western edge of the property where gravelly, alluvial soils naturally produce low yields in the vineyard. Black cherry, menthol, lavender, spice and dried flowers all develop enticingly in the glass. Bright and focused with plenty of supporting structure, the 2016 is extremely expressive, even in the early going. I would give it a few years in bottle to soften. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, January 2020)

Oct 4th, 2016This was the first California Cabernet that Robert Parker gave 100 points. I opened my last one with trepidation but it is a wonderful surprise. There is still quite a bit of fruit, a beautiful nose, and round ripe flavors. A lush mouthfeel and balanced acidity. This has become a very soft, gentle intriguing wine...like a sexy aged Burgundy. Brilliant winemaking really.

Aug 13th, 2016Quite yummy, looked particularly good next to the Ch. Gloria, 1988. This bottle was 1.5L. Will hang in there another 5 years or so.
