Everything you want out of a soulful southern Syrah...gorgeous lavender bouquet with dried herbs and smoke, smooth texture with sweet black fruit. Not simple but totally accessible

Domaine Gramenon, Côtes-du-Rhône, Sierra du Sud, 2020, ABV 14.2%. 🇫🇷

When I see the words “Côtes-du-Rhône” on a wine label, my mind initially goes to a Grenache-based blend… 🍇

But not this one! No, this biodynamic beauty is 100% Syrah, from Southern Rhône, France, with a deep ruby hue and boatloads of juicy, vibrant red and black fruit notes such as ripe kirsch, Morello cherry, plum, blueberry, and black raspberry, also violet, licorice, and spicy nutmeg notes. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

On the palate this wine is dry, with medium(+) acidity, a medium body, high alcohol, medium, soft tannins, medium(+) intensity in flavors consistent with the nose. The finish is medium(+).👍🏻👍🏻

This is a lovely, balanced, fruit-forward wine that could be a versatile culinary partner. We’re pairing it tonight with a caprese, arugula and baked chicken salad and it’s delicious. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🍷🍷🍷

Here’s to ‘La Vin en Liberté’ (wine in freedom)- cheers!

Pretty Brett-y this time around. Always enjoyable. Olive tapenade, fresh leather, stony minerality
