1999 Gosset Grand Millesime Champagne. This elegant beauty seems it is at its peak now! Slightly toasted notes of understated autolytic notes. Even though 1999 is known for just straight forward fruit, which this has with lemon confit, this 1999 has a great energy that carries a nice exclamation at the end. Very good zing for a 1999.

Superb aromatics. Completely nails it aromatically with yeasty, confectionary birthday cake notes. Very giving on the palate with tartness, concentration and a good long finish. Lots of autolytic character; a bit oxidative. Beautiful in its power if not the most elegant.

2006 already showing quite a bit of development. Good development with a medium gold color and aromas and flavors of hazelnuts and hints of buttermilk and butterscotch. Very dry. The effervescence was perfect and helped to make the wine still refreshing

Honey and apricots roasted nuts on the nose. Soft and round. A richness and fullness on the pallet. Clean and beautiful acidity. Where is my seafood tower?

I am not usually a fan of bubbles, but I have to say this was very special. Lovely light lemon color, dry with compelling mouth that filled up the sides with lingering acidity. A great experience.

Founded in Aÿ in 1584 by Pierre Gosset, Gosset is the oldest wine house in Champagne. A blend of 57% Chardonnay and 43% Pinot Noir, pale gold with stone, tropical and citrus notes. Fine mousse, persistent bubbles, apricot, pineapple and lemon with big mineral tones. Lingering finish ending with yeasty notes. Good but not one of their best. Pricey.
