2005 vintage. Surprisingly fresh and lively, considering its age. Fresh red and dark fruit flavors of black cherry, raspberry coulis, baked blueberry, red currant with little dill-type herbalness, mocha, old cigar box. Lots of complexity and seems like it still had time to go. Valentine Wine!

It’s been a minute since I’ve had an Amon-Ra and this bottle from @Joe Lucca brought back some fond memories. My tastes have strayed from most Aussie Syrah (some notable exceptions aside) but this is still in my wheelhouse. Rich, sweet black cherry, fruit cake, well integrated oak, iron. In a really nice place. Soft supple and warm. Here’s looking at you looking at me Amon-Ra.

Had this and the ‘10 and I love them both. Hedonistic Aussie Shiraz. Toffee, truffled chocolate, blueberry, blackberry, mint leaves. My favorite Aussie Shiraz.

Second Australian Shiraz of the night. Deep and dark ruby red. Classic Aussie nose with a ton of caramel, sweet bread, molasses, jammy and an interesting undertone of mint. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) with black cherries, caramel and even more complex dark fruits as it opens up. Medium body and long finish. Delicious Aussie Shiraz. Drink till 2022.

Earthy rich nose with pure extract of blackberry. Velvety smooth wave of cassis, dark chocolate, asian spice and soy, blueberry jam. Kirsch and black cherries. Not a hard edge anywhere, alcohol well hidden. Sole disappointment vs last year is that it didn't have the tannins or acid to balance the fruit much longer...drink this hedonistic beast soon.

Initially overwhelming sweetness, after first opening and decanting. Left a day after opening and considerable improvement. Became an incredibly rich, velvety wine in texture, with a great balance of flavour.

#WW #ShirazWeek #shirazweek2015 #Barossa #Shiraz. Dug this out of the cellar, a relic of days gone by when big, buxom beauties were a palate pleaser. Now a days, like'em a bit more lithe, somewhat sinewy, with subtle savouriness and succulent salinity. Still, this is fun for a glass or two.

Great wine. A nose of abundant dark fruits rounded out with a hint of floral and charcuterie. The palate is similar and well balanced. Rich cassis dominates, but is not overly sweet or extracted; it is balanced by minerality, a hint of meat and very fine silky tannins. Mouth coating with nice lingering finish. Still very good after 24 hours. Wish I had more bottles.

Great Shiraz at a very good year to drink this. Great food, some wood, but not too much. Fantastic finish.

Rich full silky with plum notes. Long and intense. Many of these premium Barossa shirazes have a sameness about them. I would love to see a group of professionals taste say this Amon Ra, stonewell, Hanisch and Rockford Basket Press and talk about the differences? Many others could be added to this list with a similar flavour profile. 18.
