Giuseppe E Figlio Mascarello
Santo Stefano di Perno Dolcetto d'Alba
Not the typical dolcetto. Definitely has a savory, earthy funk which I didn’t expect. Not terrible or bad in any way. Maybe a little too aged for docletto. I’m searching. LOL

Dec 23rd, 2018Great fruit and silky tannins frame red fruits and spice aromas and flavours in this already approachable Barolo. Better in 2020 but hard to resist now.

May 24th, 2016This is just not showing as it should on the palate. Aromatically it is correct. Just rather empty on the palate.

Nov 23rd, 2015I found this in an old location and did not know what to expect being a Dolcetto because most are made to be immediately consumed and not aged. Well, it was the best Dolcetto I have had, ever. Completely mellowed out, this had a huge bouquet of floral red currants and tar. The palate was silky and fruit driven showing tremendous depth for this little wine. #producersmatter #mascarello

Aug 31st, 2015Attempt number 2. First was corked. Simple wine from not so simple producer. Stunning level of sulfur and co2 yet still funky. Plums, tarragon, pepper.
