What I know about this wine is it’s huge aging potential; what I didn’t know was that their skill level is so high that even their young Barolos — if this bottle is indicative —are complete, perfectly balanced, and taste as if they are made to drink now! This wine was much more delicate, floral, Burgundian, and tea-scented than I expected compared to the other notable Barolo producers I have experienced. What a stunning introduction to this producer!

Though not giving much on the nose it more than compensated with a bright, red floral palate that was Burg-like, long, notes of tar and tea, dark cherry and leather. Beautiful.

Deep reddish tawny color, mostly translucent. Floral nose. Notes of red fruit, rose petals, dark soil, smoked meat and blood sausage, and a little anise. Rich and powerful in the mouth. Still has some tannin. Gets bigger with air over the evening. This came across as a somewhat different bottle of juice than the 70 Monprivato next to it - with the 70 being more aged-Barolo like, and the 78 being more of a hearty Cote-Rotie or something. Nevertheless everyone loved this and having the two side-by-side.
