Girolamo Russo
Nerina Etna Bianco Carricante Blend
It’s been a while delectable, but I am still here 😂 and determined to get back to recording stuff here as it really is a great resource! And this wine is a great place to start.. It’s totally over delivering: lemon & rocks. Zippy acidity even with some age.! Great with cheese, but really looking forward to it with triggerfish & a nice spring salad 💫💫💫

Apr 6th, 2024Structured and long but a bit too much pineapple right now. I’m giving my second bottle a few years to develop.

Sep 6th, 2022The 2020 Etna Bianco Nerina takes things to a very serious level, with a white Burg-like bouquet of crushed oyster shells mixed with yellow apple, dusty dried flowers and hints of brown spice. Its silky, nearly-glycerol textures find balance through a core of saline-infused minerals and brisk acids, as nectarine mixes with bitter lemon pith to create further tension. This leaves the palate with a saturation of primary concentration, yet it maintains amazing freshness through the long and lightly structured finale. The balance of richness, structure and fruit here promises many years of positive evolution. It’s amazing to think that this is the “entry-level” Bianco from Girolamo Russo. Continues to be my favorite Etna-golden yellow in color, round and deep, but with rich minerality and medium high acid: white peach, apricot, yellow ripe pear, daisies, honey, mead, crushed ash...and buffalo mozzarella!

Rounded texture with medium plus acid, it lingers on the finish with yellow stone fruit and a hint of menthol.
