Not the best Sordo example. I really liked the Monvigliero and Barolo bottlings from the same vintage.

Nice if undistinguished Barolo from the Perno cru in Monforte d’Alba. Cherry, plum, tar, dried herbs, and light forest floor on the nose. Good combination of fruitiness and power on the palate. Tannins are still a bit tight.
Just enter its drinking window.

Earth and tannins gave way to a pleasant while unspectacular wine. “Needs food”…

Just OK - med bodied & not as gutsy (or elegant for that matter) as I like my Barolo... dark ruby, not quite opaque, with generous cherry & raspberry aromas along with muted secondary layers of a high toned leafy variety, little tar, some exotic spices, violets & bitter cacao. Decent on palate & bit astringent on finish. Best part of this wine was the empty glass.

Costco buy. $30, WS 93. 2 hour decant. Medium bodied, smooth, ripe cherry on nose & palate, with menthol/eucalyptus kick on the finish. Very enjoyable.

Super tart cranberry and gravely tannins. Won't be re-buying this one.
