French oak influence is prominent for those who are accustomed to traditional production. Dark ripe plum, and some nice tertiary flavors after 9 years. A well-made wine for modern crowd.

Little darker in color than the Guido Porro black cherry and balsamic note ( VA is on the edge but ) but not enough to make it off putting big tannins and fruit and oak background

Ripe, a touch medicinal, but still very enjoyable.

Absolutely an example of the darker side of Barolo. The '99 Corino Rocche dell'Annunziata is coming from a time when new oak ruled the day. Dark red fruit aromas, as well as tobacco, cedar, exotic spice and minty-pine rose up from the glass. On the palate, ripe cherry with notes of licorice, spice and dark chocolate were kept firm by the wines structure, which is helping more than hurting on this night. The finish was fresh with pure ripe cherry fruit, sweet herbs and inner floral tones. Good? Yes, but I miss the Rocche signatures that are completely covered over by the new oak that was used here.

Far along in the secondary characteristics portion of its life. Tobacco and cherry blossom, wood shavings and thyme. Very enjoyable but time to drink!
