Giovanni Almondo
Roero Nebbiolo
Roero, Cuneo, Piedmont, Italy

Not as good as the arneis, which is a bench mark example. Over two days can’t sense any quality surpassing a average langhe neb.

I love this wine. Leather, soil, cocoa, prune, touch of smoke, black tea, some cherry and cranberry, full of Nebbiolo tar & dried roses. Silky but with lush tannins. From Moore Bros. in Industry City.

Enjoyed this Roero tonight, it went perfectly with our Italian dinner. I rarely find a wine from Piedmont that I don't like.

Sep 15th, 2013This is a pleasant nebbiolo that I see pairing well with a lot of pasta dishes. Overall, this wine has very scrumptious red fruit flavors with settled tannins that balance the fresh acidity really well. It’s a translucent, pale red that’s medium bodied with scents of cherry, rose, and leather. Primarily it’s the cherry that comes through on the palate. The fine grained tannins transition to black tea notes and cherry on the finish. The fruit on the finish quickly disappears.

Jan 24th, 2026A pale Nebbiolo with red cherry, a bit of spice and oak aromas. Short red cherry finish with a bit of tartness. A good value Nebbiolo.

Strawberry and raspberry juice. Lighter bodied and not very aromatic I don’t think. Nice soft velvety tannins. I drank it by a fire so I didn’t have a deep aromatic experience.
