Not nearly as expressive and balanced as the 2011 we recently opened. The fruit is buried under heavy metallic notes. Opened up some with air but not a ton.

Dark blackberry and currants, tobacco, dark olive and acid. Very good and holding up well.

A great year for this benchmark Barbera. Powerful berry fruits with excellent acid. Tar and cured meat aromas lend a savory edge.

The 2014 Barbera d'Alba Francia is a surprisingly rich, powerful wine, especially for the year. An exotic mélange of dark cherry, plum, lavender, sage, cloves and graphite builds in the glass. There is a level of demi-glace-like textural richness that is impossible to miss. Intense and virile, the 2014 will drink beautifully for a number of years. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2017)

Lean and tart but has Giacomo stuffing. Should be long lived. Opens up seriously

Intense. Concentrated. Balanced though. Plush tannin, loads of dark hedgerow fruit. Truffles. Spoils one for any other Barbera!
