Riserva Antichi Vigneti Propri Barbaresco Nebbiolo

Birthday dinner wine. Still in beautiful shape, compelling interplay between faded but still vital fruit and earthy elements. excellent with walnut crusted pork chops in morel and porcini cream sauce

Old Nebbiolo nose with sour cherry on palate for first two hours, then rose and red fruit for next hour, then as it was just hitting its stride it was gone - we finished it. Next time need to be more patient, if I’m lucky enough for a next time. Purchased from Walker Wines who has great old Nebbiolo offerings.

Right at the end of a great run. Still ethereal and delicate.

Past it’s prime

No great wines, only great bottles. This was one. The worst label/cork of the night, but the juice was on point.

Light menthol. Fairly high acid despite 40 years. Earthy and funky. Truffles. Outstanding nose

Lovely deep mushrooms and light body. Doesn't quite have the stuffing of many other vintages. Birth year wine for a friend.

Complex, depth, balance. Best vintage I've had.
