Grand Terroir La Clape Coteaux du Languedoc Red Rhone Blend

Fruit forward; dark cherries, plum, tobacco; subtle tannins; lovely garnet color

I can't decide if I like it. At first I'm hit with a nose mouth feel completely foreign. With our dinner an hour later, though it opened up and I found it to be enjoyable. Went well with our pulled pork and spicy slaw.

Drinking beautifully now with a slight brick-red hue, this dense, savoury blend (Syrah, Carignan, Mourvèdre) features notes of fig, orange zest and tobacco leading onto dried herbs and meat. The finish is long and dry but leaves the palate with a refreshingly floral aftertaste. Inviting and well-balanced.
Update: on second day, and left open for 8 hours, the wine is at its best.

Red fruit, floral, spices, herbs and a little pencil shavings. Good, not great.

Quite a light body with fruit and cedar. Nice, but a little watery.

Smooth and full of luscious fruit. Good balance of tannins, fruit and acidity. A great surprise for a local pizza place :)

Nose of tobacco and deep dark berry fruit. Full bodied but not especially bold. Metallic in some way at first - more enjoyable over the duration of drinking the pour.

Solid red for the price point.

Nice full body, a little bit bitter in the start, good long finish.

Extremely rich and smooth.
