Pale gold and viscous white wine with sharp notes of lemon rind, grapefruit pith, and Granny Smith apple with hints of bell pepper, almonds, linseed oil… and call me crazy but I get a faint whiff of tire smoke in the bouquet. Lemon oil, grapefruit, and underripe peach with notes of almond oil, cold steel, and cave pebbles on the palate. It has a rather high alcohol for a white wine, which gives the body some heft. The finish is a bit short, but I find that a small complaint and imagine this unique wine from a windswept Greek island easily pairing with grilled veg or seafood.

This old winery produces lively and balanced Assyrtiko. Plenty of acidity, saline, and pear notes. I suspect they add a bit of another white variety to round out the mouthfeel.

Great acidity and saline flavors. Good blue bottle value

Dry, crisp, and lemony at first taste, but not too acidic, turns creamier and sweeter when paired with a rich, fatty fish (had it with an olive-oil and caper based red snapper).

Points deducted because it’s from the winery of my former college rival but it’s still really good.

Salted lemon, popcorn and faint smoky notes on nose. Palate displays assertive acidity, lemon & grapefruit zest, green apple ending with some peppery notes on a protracted finish. An enjoyable #santorini 100% #assyrtiko white.

Snappy, acidic, lemony, chalky. Not 100% Assyrtiko but I don’t care

One of my favorite whites. Crisp. Mineral. Apple. Paired great with octopus and lemon chicken.
