Happy agreement between Italianismo (made up the word for Italian wines' ability to be indelibly Italian) and rusticity. The nose is prettily tart--blood orange and lavender. The palate brings slightly rough in a pleasant way. Savory but a little bloody with an earthy metallic zing running through it. I didn't expect to be as into this as I am but here we are. INTO it.

A balanced and thankfully minimally oaked Rosso Conero. Dark berries, turned earth, graphite, and a little licorice on the nose. Nicely managed texturally (Montepulciano can be a little grainy) it’s got almost Bordeaux-like restraint, but with a bit more dark berry fruit. Great lasagna wine!

Thank God this is not an "international style" bastardization of Rosso Conero, which is all too common these days. Straightforward, dusty, spicy, dry gravel-earthy, dark cherry Montepulciano nose. Soft and mouthfilling, with pure dark cherry and dry leaf/gravelly earth. Softer texture than many examples of this grape. Good acids too. Grazie!
