Galen Glen
Stone Cellar Grüner Veltliner
Lovely! Minerally, lemon zest, Bosc pear and mouthwatering finish.

Apr 14th, 2019I’m a little conflicted here; this is an enjoyable wine, but it feels a touch too tropical. It’s got a prickle of Grüner white pepper spice that reminds you what you’re drinking, but I personally steer toward something a bit more linear. If you’re looking for summertime quaffer Grüner (yes, I’m making that an official category), this is the jam.

Jan 23rd, 2019Probably the best GV being made in the US. Another star from Sarah Troxell.

1 person found it helpfulJun 3rd, 2014Really quite good, considering I wasn't sure what to expect from PA Grüner. Rounder than most, but good acid, classic white pepper fruit, and very pleasant.

Aug 21st, 2015Ah Gruner.
Nice clear pale yellow.
Melon, mineral, tropical fruits, pineapple, and a bit of petrol.
Slight slight effervescent quality. Great, solid expression of gruner. Chalky, loamy, pineapple, and limestone.

Big white flower and perfume aromas. High levels of pear, lemon pith and mineral flavors. Balanced acidity. Crisp. Just a touch of sharpness on the extremely long finish.

Nov 12th, 2020Apple and wet stone on the nose, medium bodied with flavors of lime and lemon. Fantastic minerality. Pleasantly surprised with this PA wine!

Dec 30th, 2018Another quality example of an Austrian varietal coming out of Galen Glen. Drinking from my Zwiesel 1872 glass; fitting for this delicate beast. They have this dialed in to almost perfection. Yellow apple, tangerine, and green pear are ushered in by chervil and white pepper. The palate is covered in honeyed lime, flint, saline, and shale slabs. Mouth feel holds true to citrus oil. It’s acidity literally cleans everything up and leaves your tongue tingling. Finish keeps on giving you more to contemplate. Terrior driven for sure. If you’re ever in the area, a must vineyard to visit.
