F.X. Pichler
Dürnsteiner Kellerberg Smaragd Grüner Veltliner
From when i popped it open i had a smile stuck on my face😊
Intense and delicate..perhaps that is why
FX Pichler is considered to be the Romanee-Conti of the Wachau
The wine is imperial, it has a magnetism something rarely experienced
Grilled pineapple, white pepper (so focus), coriander, nutmeg, hay, honeycomb, rocks and herbs like there's no tomorrow
It feels like being in a high montain plateau in full spring, bees buzzing on the flowers
It is a picture that lingers with the outstanding superlong persistence
One of those wines

On the nose: earth, hay, and white pepper. Pale gold. On the palate it explodes: ripe apricot, yellow peach, Meyer lemon, honey. Long finish, medium (+) acidity. 13.5% alcohol.

Sep 5th, 2016200 4 vintage. In a way, remiscent of a rich Alsace wine, but the pronounced spice flavors brought me correctly back to Austria (served blind). While layered and offering some complexity, I don't really see it getting better from on.
