One of the unassailable truths about wine is that none of us, and I mean none of us, drink enough rosé Champagne. So join me in trying to rectify that situation, will you? For your consideration, one of Champagnes most artisan rosés, made organically in the little cellar of Fred Savart, @champagnesavart, whose deft touch with some of his oldest vines makes for a distinctly savory interpretation of rosé bubbles. There’s dried herbs, even some marijuana bud, mixed with citrus, a whiff of berries, sea air and electric minerality. This stuff ain’t easy to find (Fred doesn’t make much of it) so if you see it, snap it up. I got mine at @crushwineco I think.

Strawberry, red currant, peach skin, wet stone, sea salt, citrus peel. Tense and very precise, a core of minerality throughout.

Very bright acidity, medium finish, a sliver of red fruit but more on the herbaceous side which was surprising. Good, but perhaps not as great relative to expectations?
