“Probably the best pizza wine in the world and definitely the girliest”

Can confirm these observations of a friend - just so darn satisfying with pizza magherita. Notes-wise, I reckon JR got it spot on, so here it is, “With exuberant aromas this wine is stunning right out of the glass. The nose is full of rhubarb, rose hips, cracked pink peppercorn and even zesty orange peel, all mixed through with an earthy accent. The palate is mouth-watering and fresh with modest tannin, a velvety mouthfeel and a long finish. Intriguing, distinctive and deceptively easy to drink. Enjoyable”.

The 2021 Pelaverga Speziale is pretty, floral and aromatic, with a bit more fruit and fewer of the savory notes that are often present here. This light-bodied, ethereal red is a fine choice for drinking now and over the next few years. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, December 2022)

Very light and bright red wine. A nose with black pepper, cinnamon, cardamom on a cherry and raspberry base. The spices come back in the flavour but there is a bit of leather there as well. Some fresh tones but not agressive. Light and frivolous.

Tart strawberry with cherry liqueur, some white pepper and rose petals. There’s plenty of acid, balanced with a sappy sweetness that make this wine approachable, Reminds me of another northern Italian varietal in the lovely Vajra Rosso: Freisa
SommSelect. Thanks for this one, Mike!

Lifted aromas of rose water, juicy red cherries, raspberry, and hints of peppery spices. Elevated acidity, diminished tannins, and 13% abv.

Fresh, floral red and blue berry fruits, with subtle earth and baking spice, pale ruby in color but surprising structure, enjoyed with grilled blowfish tails and fettuccine with lamb sausage

I think I’ve found my favorite pizza wine! Light-colored, with a lively nose of peppercorns, violets, spice and quinine. Zingy and crunchy in the mouth, with a contradictory sense that it’s both full-bodied yet light and zingy. Really unique!
