Les Contours de DePoncins Viognier

Beautiful viognier. Honeysuckle & lemon verbena.

Peaches, apricots, and hibiscus bound from the glass and add nuttiness and mineralogy to the palate. Sourced from vineyards next to Condrieu, this is a terrific wine. I'm not sure this '15 will age more than 5-7 years, but I'd rather drink it now!

Consistently great from year to year, especially at its price point.

Honey yellow in color. Honeysuckle and peach on the nose. The palate features stone pits, ripe peach, oak, malolactic butter, with some petrol after notes. Great minerals, moderate alcohol, and moderate plus acid.

So aromatic. Full malo aromas of buttered popcorn subsided after a day or two. Then dried mango, lychee, tangerine. Beautiful and rich - maybe a tiny bit hot in the mouth. Label shows 14% abv but I’m guessing this creeps past 15%. Lots of texture and complexity - terrific at cellar temp on a cold night.

Lush herbal and honeysuckke aromas lead through the front of the palate, with crisp and structured tropical fruit that have a spicy edge.

Overly oaky. High in eugenol. Chamomile, orange blossom and leather. Not my favourite
