Jul 31st, 2019Well here’s one way to wash out a long, tough evening—forlorn hope indeed. But it sure brightens the palate and spirit. Fresh, bursting cherries, spring blooms, with just a pinch of baking spice. Lots of zippy acid keeps the mouth watering.

Jun 5th, 2018Tasty and fun at first, but with some intrigue under the surface. Wild and gamey berry fruit, with some deeper notes of violets, leather, musk, forest floor and savory herbs. Medium acidity, medium- tannin. Medium body and very very quaffable. Drink it on its own or with a range of milder dishes.

Nov 28th, 2017Another paradoxical wine: such broad and deep flavors but a concise little package. Great stuff, gamey red fruit with poise and verve.

Day two and three added some purple floral notes and roses. Medium tannins (6/10) and light to medium bodied. Layered palate with cherry cola on the attack with some herbs, spices, red cherries, strawberries, sage, and a touch savory. Very dry and long finish. Nicely balanced throughout. Drink till 2024.

The nose. By God the nose is heavenly. Floral, perfumey, candied red berries and red plums and sweet spices to this, cinnamon and nutmeg and a touch of pyrazines. On first sniff the nose reminds me of some California pinots I've had, but the palate doesn't match up totally. It's thin but structured, acidic but with tannin. It's a really interesting take on a Portuguese varietal that I'm glad to have found.
