Forlorn Hope

Suspiro Del Moro Silvaspoons Vineyard Alvarelhão 2007

This wine is excellente! Deep silky dark fruit. This is a great sipping wine, yet it will sing with a thick steak or juicy grilled pork chop. This is a 2007, so good luck finding one. — 8 years ago

Marcio Lopes

Proibido Grande Reserva Douro DOC 2013

Blend of multiple indigenous varieties (Donzelinho, T. Francisca, Alvarelhão, Sousão, etc.) from old vines in Vila Nova de Foz Côa in Douro Superior (Upper Douro), not far from the Spanish-Portuguese border (La Raia, an area known for its smuggling past. Hence the name). Aged in used oak barrels for 15 months. Intense nose with aromas of dark fruit, prunes, chocolate and some spices. Powerful, full-bodied. Despite the 15% alcohol it feels quite fresh. Elegant. Polished tannins. Great at almost 10 years — 3 years ago
