Sgarzon Vigneti delle Dolomiti Teroldego

Popped and poured. 100% Teraldego from a 5 acre parcel and aged in amphora. At this stage the 2014 “Sgarzon” pours a nearly opaque, garnet color. Let’s be clear, there’s definitely some VA, but there is some absolutely gorgeous pomegranates, tart dark brambles, earth, and stewed plums too. A very pretty wine that reminds me why I am so smitten by Elizabetta‘s wines. For my palate, this is showing better than it did back in 2017. Very Italian…but with some Burgundian sensibilities. But even that isn’t fair. These wines are singular.

Slightly disappointing bottle. There was a golden hour in the decanter when everything came together but it soon slipped away. Bummer.

Killing unicorns

Nice berry fruit, leather, good tannins, acid, Italian funk. Ah, Teroldego.

Vibrant tart dark berries. A touch of brett gives some charm. Loads of structure. A wonderful compliment to the meal. I see a lot of upside.

Cherry tones with a hint of Christmas in there-enjoyed this

Present tannins with lively acidity and dark cherry flavors. Tasting this in Elisabetta's presence really tuned me into its elegance. Then again, she could probably convince me that Pinot Project is profound. #winegirlcrush

Lots of cherry, maraschino cherry, some anise/herbal characters, bright acid on palate...still a baby but delicious
