Drinking the 2009, 8 years old. Very soft and full bodied aglianico del Taburno. This comes from an area near the Province of Taburno and makes very earthy aglianico. The texture, acidity, and nicely balanced which indicated the aglianico is reaching its best age. The only reason for a lower rating is that the earth/tar notes overpowered the red fruit making it almost non existent.

Power and structure abound. Like a garden rake on the palate with bold tannins. Notes of tobacco, sour cherry, tar, and earth.

Very rich and deep. Really singing now. Raging Aglianico tannins have been mellowed by 12 years in bottle but are still prominent with a bit of grip. Dark black fruit but tart, loads of acidity. Well balanced. Would have liked a bit more nose.

Jun 16th, 2018Very dark purple/black on the eye moving toward orange rim variation- looks like an old wine. Nose sees balsamic vinegar, dark, ripe, stewed cherries, oak. Palette sees more caramelized vinegar, dark, stewed overripe cherries, healthy dryness, complex finish and mouthfeel. Delicious wine, great value at €6/glass.

Vino eccezionale, ben bilanciato, cuoio, frutta sotto spirito, amarena, tabacco, pepe, vaniglia e legno ben bilanciato, forse un po' troppo perché può invecchiare molto.
