Sweeter version of Barolo, with structure and acidity not apparent on soft opening but kicks in mid sip and drags out flavors through the long finish. Cherries, tobacco leaf.

Very sweet on the palette with high tannins so leaves a very very dry finish.

Well now I can say I honestly understand what people mean when they describe Barolo as tasting like tar and roses. What an interesting flavor profile.

2005 vintage, 500 ml bottle. Forward style of Barolo if not quite international or modern. Nose of tar, spice, leather and some earth. The palate has vanilla (has probably mellowed with age), dark fruits, and mellowed tannins. Good acidity to cut through the fat of the large cut prime rib at Metropolitan Grill in Seattle. Not enough earth to really play with the cedar plank wild mushrooms. I've had older Fontannafreddas and they seemed much more modern in style. The waiter noted that around the mid-2000s they began to change. Would be interested to see if this continued.

Leather and coffee notes. Was closed when opened. Some rose pedals although almost gone. Good stuff but not awesome. Unusual 1 Liter bottle. I love Nebbiolo this one was to easy and too predicable in its taste profile but I would not hold it against it. 2005 was an OK vintage.

Deep rich neppiolo with the plums n' cherry but surprisingly much tannins for the age. Could mature many more years, surely.

Tart red cherries, dried herbs, very savory. Tight and gritty tannins for 05' - fun times for sure
