Wet wood with some bramble and twigs. Lots of really overrippened blackberries, combined with the density and heavy body gives it a distinct jamminess.

Oct 21st, 2022Had this 2 years ago, tasted new batch. Fonseca founded in 1822, successive generations of Guimaraens family upheld the Company’s reputation. Bin No. 27 was created over a century ago for family consumption, & only released commercially in 1972. Sits in large wood cats for 4 years. Rich texture, ripe fruit flavors of blackberry & cherry, smooth, good balance on lingering finish ending with a sweet fruit character & some spicy notes. Consistent quality y/o/y. Can be consumed over a few weeks. Tasting Sample.

Sep 4th, 2017Sweet to the palate porto and leaves a lingering sweet taste. Great as an after meal wine. If you let it breathe for a day or two, the heavy scent to the nose wares off.
