A wine of two halfs with half the wine coming from the commune of Barolo and the remainder coming from Monforte D'Alba / ie; one in the west based on the Tortonian soils and the the other from the east in the Helvetian soils. Not amazingly aromatic but speaks of fresh tar, nip of truffle, beef stock, air dried salami, dried fennel seed, some dried florals and wafts of mulberry. Hardly an authority in the gob, but it does speak of Barolo; it's lacy tannins slowly build as you try to chew your way through. Acid is perky and fresh, and length is solid. A wine that would benefit with some age or some roast duck to help tame those tannins.

The savoury imbued with a little floral: think pouch tobacco, a touch of clove with rose petal florals and plum skin adding that extra dimension. Feels dusty, powdery, well extracted tannin here that move to a firmness, letting your palate know you've been Barolo-ed

Deep ruby with a slight orange tinge. Lovely deep floral nose, with hints of tar and herb. Roses, lavender, red and black fruit, tobacco, balanced with the typical wall of tannin. Fine quality tannins giving grip and continuity to the whole. Young but drinking. Great value.

Ruby red. Roses. Red fruits. Tobacco. A fantastic balance of elegance and power! Vibrant tannins with a beautiful silky finish. Need to find me another bottle!

Translucent Ruby color and medium bodied. Red berry and tobacco notes leading to a silky smooth light-medium tannic finish. Delicious, easy drinking 'baby' Barolo - I say baby Barolo as it is surprisingly light bodied for a Barolo. Love it!

Tasty, supple Barolo. Not one long destined for the cellar, but drinking well now! Rose petals and brambles supported by light handed wood!

The third of the Fletcher wines from Vaucluse Cellars. It is a bit tight on opening. $70.
