Selección Finca Monte Alto Rías Baixas Albariño
It was Weston’s hosting today for the Wednesday Wine Committee and probably the most informative lunch to date. Though everything was tasted “blind” as usual, we were all given a list of grapes to choose from for the whites and the reds, since they were all meant to be very similar.
The last white wine which for me, was the easiest to determine. Very floral nose but a sweet finish, especially in comparison to the first two. ✔️

Pineapple peaches and apricot. Very intense nose. Has lees but they're there for texture not for flavor. Chalky rocky pebbly finish. #ríasbaixas #riasbaixas #albariño

Oct 27th, 2016Wonderful nose full of opulent tropical fruit, pineapple and papaya along with a saline snap. Clean (maybe too clean) on the palate with linear white fruit and short wet stone finish

Aug 19th, 2014One of my favorite whites. Fresh and delicious. A bit of lemon and pear with tart lychee. Highly recommended.

Jan 8th, 2014Lemon, kiwi, underripe stone fruit, and green melon. Great salinity and minerality. Medium alcohol, high acid, and a long finish. A really nice Albariño.

Aug 5th, 2023Very good 2017. One of subtlest albariños I have tried. Tangy without acidity, lemony with a touch apple, tarragon and slight bitterness st end. Worked with asparagus soup, fish and tomato and then pear and raspberry
