First day this wine seemed OK, with some laid back fruit, but this was non-critical tasting with pizza in a park meeting some friends for SD chatting. Two days later clearly the cork failed because the fruit disappeared completely, tired reddish brown and oxidation rendered the glass undrinkable. My first bad bottle since this pandemic started - a solid run to be sure.

Decent montepulciano. Would probably benefit from 5 years of aging. Enjoyable on a cool night.

Old world earthiness with notes of tobacco and black cherry. More depth than a typical super Tuscan, I would recommend with lamb or steak versus pasta.

Drank 9/30/27. Always a great pairing with most italian food. Great value at $20, even better on sale at $16.

Medium nose of black cherry, earth, and baking spice. On the palate, black cherry , tar, and cassis give way to medium tannins, and red fruit. Well balanced with a medium finish.

3/21/9/5/3 + 50= 91 pts. The 2011 is perhaps a bit better.
