Drank 10/5/21.

On the nose, black cherry, earth, and tar dominate. Similar flavors are well balanced and backed by medium plus tannins. Finish is longer than average, and dominated by black fruits and tar. I haven't had this wine in a few years, but earlier vintages seemed a bit better. Certainly not bad, just not as good as I remember.

3/21/7/4/4 + 50 = 89 pts.

Post Elsa checklist- gnarly drinking Sangiovese, nobile-tough. Always better day two. Elsa was a bit anticlimactic down in The Gulf Coast, so this got special attention; very disjointed on day 1, but reconstituted afterward; blackberries. Ready to rumble w Elsa on day 2-3, eh? @Severn Goodwin

Very earthy on the nose. A little tannic, medium body. Goes down nice and smooth.

Not bad, not great. Difficult for me to rate other varietals when I love full bodied wine

Black cherry, herbal, eucalyptus, blueberry, raspberry, ripe strawberries, leather and game. Great tannins, well balanced and pretty finish.

During the initial hour of opening the wine has an elegant almost northern/piedmont character... the next day this wine really comes into its own. the wood and the fruit are restrained, but all well integrated with classic tobacco and leather notes.

Vivid nose dominated by tobacco and smoked meat. Savory black cherry and raspberry fruit with gentle tannins. Ideal with porchetta.

Really solid Sangiovese. Good fruit structure. Nice acidity.
