Figgins
Estate Red Cabernet Sauvignon Blend
Just can’t get over the tannic structure of this wine. Not sure there is enough time to resolve the tannins.

Apr 17th, 2019The Figgins Estate Vineyard is a high elevation site in the Walla Walla Valley, planted to Bordeaux varietals. The Estate Proprietary Red utilizes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot and was aged for 22 months in largely new French oak prior to bottling. Needing more than an hour decant, the wine slowly releases bright red cherry, dill, sandalwood, and black tea aromatics that build in the glass. The palate is silky smooth, delivering a nice combination of red and dark fruits with black tea, anise and smoky undertones shining through as well. Bright and flavorful, this excellent effort will cellar marvelously for the next fifteen to twenty years. Drink 2019-2035- 93

Feb 19th, 2019Floral aroma. First notes splash with spice, dark cherries, apple. This is followed by tight tannins laced with licorice, vanilla, fig, and almonds and a moderate acidity to the finish.

Jul 20th, 2024Rich aroma - bold and lush fruit from the outset with fig, mocha, touch of smoke. Moderate acidity carries through a complex, dense finish that lingers on the tongue.

Oct 21st, 2023Wonderful. Really enjoyed this with a reverse seared tomahawk ribeye. Expressive nose. Dark fruit on the pallet. Well balanced. Lengthy finish. Slightly grippy tannins.

Jul 5th, 2021Potent, rich dark fruit blend with a strong tannic structure that, unfortunately didn’t really open up and remained rather single note. Also a bit of a green edge, reminiscing of unripe green olives, that stood out and wasn’t integrated.

Apr 15th, 2021Dark coarse tannins integrated with dry fruit of blue berry, currant and...figs??! Or is that just a figment of my imagination 😄. Great wine, fully bodied, edged in cigar tobacco and walnut, balanced finish. Celebrating this magical woman I met nearly 35 years ago. Witnessing her giving an inspirational presentation to women in leadership about ‘finding you voice and using it to make a difference’. She is amazing!!

Jan 20th, 2021In your face tannins. Right from the start to a lingering finish. Red vibrant fruit in the middle settling into dark dry fruit with an earthy edge. Great wine. And it will further evolve.
