@FieldsFamWines Fields Family Wines 2016 Grenache Blanc (SRP $24): Grenache Blanc is a variety that’s widely planted in Spain and France. I haven’t seen it planted in large numbers anywhere else. Yet it grows surprisingly well in the Alta Mesa sub-appellation of Lodi, California, based on what’s in my glass. Sourced from Delu Vineyards, this appealingly aromatic wine leads with vibrant tree fruit flavors followed by notes of tea leaf, fresh rose petal, and cut apple. Medium-bodied and nicely textured, beautifully integrated acidity provides good energy and lift—building a brightness that extends through the medium-long, pleasing finish.
