Serpico Irpinia Aglianico

Made from 200 year old vines that are 10 + foot high vines picked with a cherry picker

The nose is dominated with leather, cloves, cinnamon and floral notes.
The first thing that hits the palette is sweetness. The wine is extracted, dense and plush. It oozes barrel toast, tobacco and charcoal. Finishes with delicate spices and integrated tannins. 14% abv revolves around perfect acidity. I thought the tannins were going to rip my face off, but the opposite occurred.

Wow............aromatics for days

So grippy and racy. Evolving nicely and quite enjoyable after a short decant, but still needs more time. Worked out lovely with duck confit & lamb shank at Taylor's Kitchen.

Smoke, coffee, cloves on the nose. Muscular wine. Brown sugar, tobacco, leather and strawberries on the palate. A lovely wine...

Extremely aromatic. Cherries and red fruit all around. The tannins were still super strong on this, though. Couldn't quite figure out what to pair it with.

Awesome wine. Highly recommend.

Very aromatic, black cherries leather, mint, dried strawberries. Deep and rich but very light on the palate, yummy!

Also off the list at Il Terrazzo. Intense nose, dark fruit, thick and tannic. Not complex but worked with rich food. Needs more time.

Modern. Very ripe, heavy oak influence. Drank well now. Best in 5+ years. 2008 vintage
