Les Vergers Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay
Chassagne-Montrachet, Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of dinner at Le Mazenay. The 2017 “Les Vergers” 1er Cru pours a light straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of green apple, passionfruit, starfruit, lemon curd, honeysuckle, a touch of raw almond, some matchstick, and limestone minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Solid stuff and showing really well. Drink now through 2037.

One of my favorite whites of the night and one of many people's wines of the night. Decanted the entire 3 hours this was a beauty. Complex aromas and flavors of minerality like slate and gun flint, an amazing palate that was light on its feet but massively textured with perfect acidity and maturing fruit notes.

Another 2 years on from the previous bottle. Slightly hint of matchstick, crisp yet creamy mouthfeel, very very light hint of vanilla. Overall impression is of freshness and lemon.

Two years since last bottle from case. Slightly fruitier than I expected at first. Nice balance, as it warmed became really nice. Very mild oak, white blossoms.

Dec 24th, 2023An aged almost over the edge white Burg medium yellow color and hints of oxidative notes on nose carrying through but balanced by firm yet rich texture on palate and finish. Great with oily garlic shrimp

Really balanced. Started to shine after it had been open a half hour and warned a bit. Saline up front with vanilla and mellow oak, floral notes, minerality, tree fruits. Delicious.

A little Chardonnay tasting w a friend. Here's good balance that demands some time n temp. But still rich barrel n fresh exotic fruit. Mango mote than lime.
