Black cherry and salvia. Soupy, short, and lacking cut. Perfectly fine, were it $9 entry-level Chianti...which it isn’t. Sadly, I’m expecting a lot of 2015s to be like this. #rufina #sangiovese #tuscany

Probably needs a few more years, but a classic example of Rufina Chianti.

My favorite $15-20 Chianti over the last year or two. Always tasty, not too rustic, and not propped up with Cab or Merlot.

Perfect partner to homemade chicken parm tonight. Lovely red fruit up front, moderate acidity to cleanse the palate, and a smooth finish that’s less drying than some other chiantis in recent memory. A nice value, as well. Time to stock up on some more.

Young, fruit-forward - red cherries and leather. Mushroom and forest floor. Chalk. Bright but balanced acidity, supple, loving tannins. This wine delivers well beyond its years.

Seems to be blended with something but maybe not. Lacking in fruit structure, slight tannins, easy drinking but not worth the $$.

Perfectly balanced. We enjoyed this immensely with some homemade pizza, though I suspect it to be much more versatile in pairings than that. A steal at $17. Even my Italo-suspicious, Francophile wife was impressed.

Chianti is the "soul food" of Italian wine, and I like it.
