An airy, effusive and downright beautiful wine is the 2018 Taganan from the Tenerife Envínate property of modernist Spanish winemakers Laura Ramos, Jose Martínez, Roberto Santana and Alfonso Torrente. Created from 100-200 year old vines on volcanic soils, it’s a delicate, restrained wine with a gorgeous, smoky bouquet of sour cherry, strawberries and Provençal herbs; the palate, meanwhile, is saturated with very fine tannins, almost imperceptible acidity and nice length. Served lightly chilled, this is an exciting wine which should gain further interest with age.

Complex with winter spice, baked fruit, and volcanic ash. Interesting distinct conifer and pine needle nose. Brilliant juice.

Prefer the whites and but none of these wines stand a chance of not getting consumed. Liked a lot and the entry red has minerailty, dark fruit and medium body; nothing too fancy but enjoyable with food.

Really cool stuff. Spicy, ashy, lot of acidity. Layers of complexity. Want more. Lots more.

Island wine, so "hot" right now. Reminds of Syrah.
