Extremely interesting stuff. Very dark rosé with loads of red snappy fruits. Almost Hawaiian fruit punch-esque but in a dry and tart way. Some nice tangerine and lime in there on the palate. Fantastic.

The “Un-Rose” as I like to call it. Nose is strawberry, cherries and citrus. So clean. On a mineral bed. Smells like summer. Watermelon as well. Blood orange with air. Dense, deep and sappy for this wine as 18 vintage carries a lot of weight with it, but it’s so caressing, so supple and so succulent the extra weight is carried off effortlessly. Amazing palate presence and finesse. The palate is surprisingly mineral with some mid season cherry fruit. This will open as it aerates. But this is best since 15 for me.

The best rose/red? Not sure what, but it’s damn good.

Wow. Nose is wide open: roses, raspberries, spice and minerality. So good. Some blood orange peel. Can’t think of a better summer food wine.

Day two and this is 🔥- it’s gained intensity and white pepper spice. Forget that this is a rose- packs more punch than most red pinots I’ve tried, so crystalline and elegant.

Closed up. After 30 minutes some overripe tart cherry and bruised rose petal aroma emerges. But a little wet cardboard smell throughout. The palate is perfect light pinot noir red- crystalline with ample acidity and all sorts of red berry fruit. But the nose never quite gains dimension- sadly I think the bottle is ever so slightly corked. Unfortunate because all other signs point to this being an insanely good wine.

Best Rose 🌹 in the world? The 17 was quite acidic. So it needs time. But the 18 is a total blow out wow. It lacks the herbaceous character of the previous vintages. Close your eyes and you think this is red Burgundy. A Volnay? Orange rind a potpourri of red fruit dark 🍒 raspberry cranberries,....But also Mexican limes. Fresh. Spectacular and as far as I know unfortunately only available from Lyle Fass. Sells out fast. A revelation and must know for any serious Pinot lover. I hope some of you will have at some point the opportunity to try wines from E&M.
