Wow. What a wine. I love this Crozes. Nose is full of pepper, grilled meats, blackberry, black raspberry, dark blueberry and lots of crushed granite. Just awesome. Mashed violets now with air. Palate is rich yet energetic with terrific precision and silky depth. Juicy and full of black fruits and crushed granite. Needs air but wonderfully elegant palate with really high quality tannins. Needs air. Air has helped. More lacey and complete.

The heat and dry vintage evident in this massiv Crozes. Black, ripe, hedonistic fruit and smokey meatiness. Gave me an awful hangover but I couldn’t stop enjoying it with dinner.

Nov 15th, 2022One of, if not, the best Crozes. Dark and red berry fruit on the brooding nose. Granite and sappy olives. Really expansive and clean. The top cuvee of 3 Crozes at Darnaud from the oldest vines. Layered, elegant nose. Truly elite. Palate is juicy and so balanced with sleek red and black berry and cherry fruits. Succulent. Dense and chewy but super energetic. Awesome concentration and power. Amazing tannins pumping juicy pure fruit to the super mineral and olivey finish. Young and can only improve.

So good. Lovely subtle oak spice with big blackberry coulis fruit and spices on the nose. Huge depth on the nose. You could swim in the layers. Palate is so ripe, so rich and so dense with dazzling purity and freshness. Wow. This is just incredible. So fresh yet so opulent and deep. That’s what the best 15’s have to offer. Spectacular.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of three days. Consistent throughout. The 2020 “Au Fils du Temps” sources its fruit from the Saviaux lieu-dit. It pours a deep ruby color with a purple tinge, a magenta rim and a near opaque core. Medium+ viscosity with significant staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is youthful; expressive of black and blue fruits: blackberries and blueberries with lavender, black pepper, some bacon fat, and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+(?) acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+; rich and full of vigor. A dense wine. This is a wee babe and really needs time. A very, very good Crozes that rivals Graillot IMO. Drink now with a lot of patience (or if you like really young Northern Rhone Syrah) but I suspect this will improve after some time on its side. Drink through 2030.

Dark ruby color. Beautiful aromas and flavors of cooked black currant and blackberry, vanilla, toast, meat, smoke and spice. Full bodied and rich. Velvety texture. Highly concentrated and beautifully balanced. Really nice wine.
