Nose has warming dark chocolate, garden mud, ripe plum, fresh figs, blackcurrant, menthol, ripe black cherry, eucalyptus, wet cedar plank with fading alcohol note.
Palate has chocolate covered cherry, cedar shavings, leather, dried plum, blackberry, over-ripe plum, warm licorice candy with fine tannins and dry finish that runs over a minute.
Decanted 3H, I suspect this will be a fantastic wine at 24H open.
I beleive the 2001 vintage blend to be 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Barbera, 20% Nebbiolo, 10% Dolcetto, 5% Syrah & 5% Petit Verdot.
A gifted bottle from a dear buddy; this is doing great and likely another 6-10+ years in front. 2028+

Broad fresh fruit. A tang of sour cherry with notes of tobacco, black cherry, leather. Dense on the palate and vigorous. Good drinking
