Served blind. The color was deep ruby and clear and bright. No real obvious signs of age. The nose was quite charming with tobacco, red fruits, leather and perhaps the slightest touch of barnyard. On the palate, there were tart, dark cherries, currants and earth. The finish was long thanks to a spine of acid. I figured old-school California Cabernet Sauvignon but I wasn’t sure how old. I was quite impressed when this was revealed considering the age and my inexperience with this producer. Bravo! Tannins have integrated at this point. While this bottle could easily drink well past 2025, I would open and enjoy now, it’s worth it.

2002 vintage. Big with harsh tannins. One dimensional and flat.

In Mag. Wow. Still zooming along. At 14.2%, the tannins and acidity really holding this together well. I don’t see a lot of press on his juice but it’s always terrific when I can get it. And the price points were great back in the day.

Super green, herby, and mentholated for Napa Cab... I have a feeling it's the vintage keeping this alive and not the producer.

First word out of my mouth was how extremely elegant this was. Napa Cab is simply just not my thing, but this was quite beautiful, fruit not crowding out nuances of spice & dust, both of which I adore in a red wine.

Leave this open at least one hour before consuming and consume with steak. Paradigmatic California Cabernet Sauvignon. After one hour, this wine reminds me of a quality Pauillac. Elegant and sophisticated, it accompanies steak perfectly. This wine likely cannot be consumed without steak. The attack is a complex leathery mix of fruit and earth, while the finish is a tannic chewy leather and tobacco mix. Top notch. When first opened overpowering and then too acidic, so you need to wait that hour if you can. Or at least 30 minutes.
