Picked this one up at a Bodega down the street. Was surprised that this was lingering in the aisle - this Bodega doesn't specialize in wine. The 2004 Edna Valley Merlot was the first vintage of this varietal. The grapes are grown on the north end of the Edna Valley AVA. The AVA, established in 1982, has a very long growing season and is characterized by black humus and clay-rich soils. ~$14 | #ednavalley #merlot

On the eyes:
Brownish Garnet, Opaque and Cloudy, with Med Stain, Med Tears. No Gas, Particulate Present.

On the nose:
Chocolately Cherry and Blackberry with a strong Oak aroma. There's Salt, a bit of Olive, and Resin.

On the tongue:
Med+ Acid, Med+ Alcohol, Med+ Tannin, Oak Spiciness, Tart Fruit - Cherry, Pomegranate. Soft tannins with Med Body and Good Finish. Let this Geezer breathe for an hour, however, this one is past it's prime.
