Best young Barolo I’ve had in a long time while ticking all the requisite boxes: tar, check; roses, check; supple red fruit, you bet. Want to see how this ages, but for now a true PnP.

Ripe and generous, this youngster is already “there”. Beautiful wine but somewhat monolithic.

Tight and dominated by VA at the beginning. Blossomed with time in the glass. Tart cherries emerged. White pepper and minerality. Tannins integrated with time.

Just look at that color, isn't that gorgeous? This is one of the reasons I love Nebbiolo, light yet powerful. Rose pedals, smoked bacon, sour cherries and cranberries, game, dust, hint of mushroom. Pretty closed nose. Huge palate attack, bone dry, dusty tannins, massive structure, nice acidity. Oak nicely integrated, tons of preserved prunes/plums and dried cherries, liquorice, really long finish 40s+, slightly bitter though, no heat detected. 2009 is a tough vintage for Barolo, very uneven ripening but Mrs Chiara Boschis nailed it, powerful+beautiful. 14.5% alc
