Beautiful. Juicy, complex, classic northern Rhone with a slightly modern style.

E Guigal produces fine Rhône wines. Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruit and earthy spice. On the palate flavors of black cherry and blackberry fruit, cacao, leather and earth notes, vivid acidity on well structured frame. Fine tannins, lingering finish ending with fruit character. Should age well, a bargain compared to its Hermitage neighbors.

2005 vintage. Dried fruit, roasted meats, little bit of pepper, tobacco and a hint of gaminess. Not really screaming
saint-Joseph for me. May be a bit past it’s prime.

This needed more air. Revealed some nicely concentrated, if not a bit rustic fruit. Lots of spice and fresh coffee grounds on top of the raspberries and blackberry on the palate. Has years ahead. If opening now decant for an hour plus.

Very drinkable, but perhaps past its prime. Quite soft. 2003 was a hot year, so it may not have had the structure to sustain.

Drinking nicely, but quite soft and devoid of Rhône Syrah characteristics. Overpriced.

Attractive cherry nose. Silky medium body and a spicy pepper zing.

Young & bright. Plenty of room to age & become balanced. Black berry, blackcurrant & pepper with pleasant oak. 2012 vintage
