Durant Vineyard's Dundee Hills La Paloma Pinot Noir 2013 doesn't disappoint. This is their 40th Anniversary edition, and I can smell its heady aromatics with the glass sitting more than two feet away (that always charms me). Cherry turnover, vanilla, and rose petal and anise are anchored in a subtly earthy embrace. It's silky on entry, with ripe tannins. This is a more fruit-driven Pinot than most examples from the 2013 vintage, offering tons of drinking pleasure. The finish is baking spice and rosy purfume. 13.6% ABV | Sample

If you have the chance to visit Durant Vineyards at Red Ridge Farms in Willamette Valley, do! The tasting room boasts impeccable grounds, guest houses and Oregon's first olive grove. The 2012 La Paloma Vineyard Pinot Noir offers classic red berry notes: cherries and strawberries and a soft, accessible texture. There is a green, slightly herbaceous note on the palate that is a bit of a detractor. Still, I recommend the visit, the venue is outstanding. Sample

We don't drink many Oregon pinots but this Durant is a reminder that maybe we should.

La Paloma 2012 I prefer over the 2011. One of Durant's richer Pinots in my opinion. Olivia Grace and Ava Lucia are pretty tasty too.

Highly enjoyable yet disturbingly unremarkable pinot. Supple mouthfeel and nice raspberry and cherry cola flavors, good depth and length, but lacking in complexity. Not sure it's worth $50
